SEN Describing a penguin- colourful semantics
Originally made for a KS3 SEN class studing the book, Lost and Found. I read the description of the penguin and the students had to draw and guess the animal. The students then read the description underlined the adjectives and made thier own word mat full of adjectives and phrases to describe the penguin.
The colourful semantics was used to put the description into sentences, I have uploaded an example of sentences they made. I also printed white words so they could write in full sentences.

About me board game for SEN

Autism Awareness Week- presentation & activities
This was for a small PSHCE lesson for Year 7 students. It’s brief, and doesn’t go into too much detail but has a drawing task, and you can make a sensory task (I just used a box and cut a hole in it), to keep them engaged.
It has links to the NAS website, which is for 2018 but can be updated, and to a youtube clip about the creator of Pokemon, which some students might like.
Sensory starters/activities
These are some sensory activities to use as starters or during tutor time. They have been selected and designed for students with learning and behavioural needs. I've also uploaded a script for one of the activities, just to provide an example but when you're doing the activity the story theme could change so you need to be flexible.
From experience they can help students be more creative in their lessons, it builds social skills between groups of students and can help them regulate their emotions.
Can be used and adapted for all ages but was originally designed for secondary and post 16 students.
Animal bingo
I’ve adapted a resource that I found on here and made 8 different animal bingo sheets, originally for a small SEN class. Includes pics of the animals to hold up as well as saying them.
Pop art- 6 week scheme of work
Originally made for an SEN class with literacy levels similar to EYFS and Key stage 1 students. I don’t have all the reosurces to go with it as some of these I got from other websites, but thought it might be helpful for ideas for a Pop art topic for a low level group.

Colourful semantics for CVC words SEN ASD
Colourful semantics to go with 23 CVC words.
I split these into 4 words per week (one week, has 3 words) and we work on spelling these words and using them in sentences, but this can be easily adapted if you wanted to use more words per week.
I have included colourful semantics boards, from the basic Who, What doing, What, to more complex Who, What doing, What, Where, Why. I have laminated these for my class and differentiate so some of the students complete only the 3 word sentences and some complete the 4 or 5 word sentences, but using the same pictures.
I have included 3 pictures of examples of students using the boards and words (I hav blanked out student names)
Dragon's Dinner colourful semantics. SEN
Originally made for KS3 SEN class for students of pre key stage level (p scale).
Sentences to go with each page of the book to describe what is happening. Images from the book or photocopies can be used to sequence parts of the story and describe what the character’s are doing.
I have also included a template that can be used alongside images from the book to create a sentence, with the colours there as a guide for lower level students, or students new to colourful semantics.
I have included a page of ‘little words’ or white words that can be cut up and slotted into the colourful semantics to create full sentences for students of a higher level. There are also communicate in print supports for adjectives that can be used for higher levels as well. Eg: The brave mouse climbed on the dragon’s tail.
